Lighting:

This section is all about lighting. We want to use different types of lighting during different stages of growth.

When we are sprouting seeds, growing mother’s for clones or cloning itself we want to use high output florescent lighting. This is the preferred choice of lighting for these stages of growth. The correct bulbs to use should be 6500 kelvin. This is the blue light spectrum ideal for these growth stages. Always use lights on timers to turn on and off your lighting. Make sure timers can handle the load of watts or amps to run safely.

When we are flowering our plants, we want to use H.P.S. (High Pressure Sodium) bulbs. H.P.S. bulbs are a 3000 kelvin rating which is the orange and red light spectrum that we want for flowering. When in flowering stages we want to have our lights on for 12(twelve) hours and off for 12(twelve) hours. When lights are off, we want the grow room to be dark (pitch black). So make sure no other light is coming into the grow room where the plants are located. Lighting should be on a timer that can handle the correct load that you are using for your ballast size.

The lighting distance varies per stages of growth, and can manipulate the plants to do different growth patterns if used correctly. When new plants are just flowering for the 1st. week. The lighting height should be raised to 3-4(three-four) feet. above the top of the plant canopy. To give the plants ample time to adjust to the more intense light. (Compared to the soft florescent lighting from cloning or sprouting). After the 1st. week of flowering we can lower the light to 2 feet from the top of the plant canopy. If you decide to keep the light at 3-4(three-four) feet. from the canopy, the plants will get taller faster. If it’s lowered back down to 2(two) feet the plants will become stocky before growing as tall. Preference depends on the growing style.
